Coach Chris Young

Coach Young will be entering his 15th year coaching and third season as the girl’s head basketball coach at Horizon High School.  In his first two seasons he has led the Huskies to a 44-17 record and received the honor of 2018/19 Region and District Coach of the Year.  Prior to Horizon, Coach Young led the Saguaro Sabercats to a 123-65 record and the school’s first ever girl’s basketball state championship and received the honors of 2012/13 AZ Big Schools Coach of the Year, ABCA Division II Coach of the Year, 2011/12 Division II Section III Coach of the Year and All Northeast Valley Coach of the Year.  Previously Coach Young has been a Varsity Assistant for girl’s basketball at Springfield High School in Ohio (2005), a JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant for girl’s basketball at Saguaro High School (2006-2007), and a Freshman and JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant for boy’s basketball at Chaparral High School (2008-2010).  Coach Young graduated from Kent St. University in Kent, OH and received his Master’s in Education from the University of Phoenix.  Coach Young also received a Broadcasting degree from the Ohio Center for Broadcasting and has worked in radio in Cleveland, OH covering the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Coach Reggie Johnson

Coach Reggie enters his eighth year coaching with Coach Young as an assistant varsity basketball coach. He played three years of High School basketball in Baltimore, Md. and two years with the USAF traveling team in US and Overseas. Coach Johnson has 20 years coaching experience including youth club teams, Junior High School, Senior High School, and USAF men’s Base Teams, and is also an AAU, NFHS, and NCAA certified coach.  Coach Johnson received his BA in Healthcare Management from Park College in Missouri.

Coach Summer Wright

Summer Wright will be entering her sixth season as an assistant varsity coach with Coach Young.  Summer was born and raised in Oregon where she was a scholar athlete, participating in basketball, softball, tennis and soccer. She was a four-year starter, playing basketball at Linn-Benton Community College before accepting a scholarship to play at Division II Minot State University in North Dakota.  Wright was Assistant Coach at Dakota State University in South Dakota, helping the team reach the Sweet 16 in 2008, and Hasting’s College in Nebraska where the team finished as national runner up 2009.

Coach Ashleigh Anderson

Coach Ashleigh is entering her third season as the Head JV Coach and Assistand Varsity Coach.  In her first two seasons Coach Ashleigh led the JV Team to a 23-13 record.  Ashleigh graduated from Oregon City High School in Oregon City, Oregon where she played basketball and threw the javelin and discus. She was a part of the 2008-09 State Championship team for basketball. She then went on to do both sports at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon where they were back to back Conference Champions. Ashleigh furthered her education and athletic career at Vanguard University of Southern California for a year where she was a GSAC champion in both basketball and the discus. She then transferred the following year to California State University, East Bay where she graduated with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and Corporate management. Ashleigh also played basketball for them in 2015-16 being a part of the first ever CCAA Championship in school history as well as making the first ever school appearance at the NCAA DII Tournament! After graduating Ashleigh moved to Arizona and last year was an assistant varsity coach at Dobson High School!
